Orange – translation – 7 languages

For its “roaming” publicity campaign focussed on international airports, Orange set up welcome (information) areas for customers to discuss aspects of their mobile phone use whilst abroad.

These welcome areas were to have soft seating which, for the airports where English is the predominant language, had been shaped in the letters R E L A X.  For the international campaign, communiqué was asked to translate the word into seven languages. Simple enough at first glance but it required much thought and debate. It was not just about finding an accurate translation but choosing a word which was appropriate in length and letter shape.

The project highlighted the flexibility of English in comparison to many more grammatically rigid languages.

Orange - translation from French and Spanish into English - customer satisfaction surveys

Like all businesses, Orange is keen to get feedback on their products and services. As an international company, their requirements include translations from and into Romanian, Slovakian and Polish as well as the more common European languages.

Recently communiqué undertook the translation from Spanish and French into English of their Customer Satisfaction Surveys. These were detailed in their scope and extended to 10,000 and 20,000 words respectively.
