CfBT - English into Arabic translation – Maths and Science standards for Qatar
CfBT needed assistance with the translation into Arabic of curriculum content and performance standards in Mathematics and Science for KS1-12 for use in the State of Qatar. The standards were comparable to high quality international standards, particularly those in countries where students perform well on international assessments.
This work required close liaison on terminology with the teaching staff in Qatar and our translation team not only needed the background in Maths and Science but to be able to write the Arabic with sensitivity to Qatari cultural nuances. The work amounted to 450,000 words and included DTP in a customised Arabic template (working from right to left).
The assignment was completed within a very tight deadline of six months.
